Recruitment to the Chief State Solicitor's Office

The CSSO comprises principally solicitors, legal executives and administrative staff.

Entry to the Legal Professional stream is at Solicitor level. Candidates must be enrolled as a solicitor in the State or expect to be enrolled or qualified in the State on or before a specific date. Entry to the Legal Technical stream is at Legal Executive level. Candidates are normally required to have at least two years experience on legal duties in a solicitor's office and hold an approved diploma in legal studies. Entry to the Administrative stream is at general civil service recruitment grades.

Recruitment competitions for posts in the CSSO are run by our Recruitment & Selection team or by the Public Appointments Service on our behalf.

The codes of practice for appointment to positions in the Civil Service and Public Service are available on the website of the Commission for Public Service Appointments.
