Recruitment to the Chief State Solicitor's Office
The CSSO comprises principally of solicitors, legal executives and an administrative staff. It is also staffed with specialist posts such as librarians, records managers and accountants.
External Recruitment
Entry to the Professional stream is at Solicitor level. Candidates must be enrolled as a solicitor in the State or expect to be enrolled or qualified in the State on or before a specific date.
Entry to the Technical stream is at Legal Executive level. Candidates are required to have at least one years experience on legal duties in a solicitor's office and hold an approved diploma in legal studies or have at least two years experience on legal duties in a solicitor's office and have a pass or grade D in at least five subjects (including Mathematics and Irish or English) in the leaving Certificate or an examination of an equivalent standard.
Entry to the Administrative/ Clerical stream is at the general civil service recruitment grades of Clerical Officer or Executive Officer.

Contract /Locum Positions
From time to time, appointment on a short-term contract or locum basis are made to cover staff who are on maternity leave or other short-term absences. Interested candidates who wish to be considered for appointment at Solicitor or Legal Executive level should forward relevant details, including an up to-date CV to recruitment@csso.gov.ie
