Payments of Counsel Fees by Electronic Funds Transfer

This office has introduced new financial management systems and is now in position to make payment to counsel through electronic funds transfer (EFT).

Under this payment method, money is electronically forwarded directly into the nominated bank account of the supplier. This method of payment offers a cost effective and time saving alternative to cheque payments for both counsel and this office. Also, making payment directly into a bank account eliminates the possibility of fraud in the event of a cheque being stolen or lost. Furthermore, the delays involved in producing replacement cheques, should this be required, can be avoided.

Counsel who opt to use this arrangement will continue to receive remittance advice similar to that which currently issues with cheque payments.

You may download the Authorisation Form for EFT payments from the link below. On completion please return it to the Finance Unit, Chief State Solicitorís Office, Osmond House, Little Ship Street, Dublin 8.

Please note that in order to minimise the risk of fraud all details supplied will be verified with counsel prior to any payments being made by EFT.

If you have any queries as to the operation of the facility please contact Vivian Conlon in the Finance Unit at telephone number: (01) 4175166.
